Registration and Guidance for X-ray Operators
All facilities that have radiation-producing machines are required to register their machines on an annual basis, pay the registration fee and notify the Health Department of any changes in ownership, address or machines.

Note: not all suggestions may be appropriate for a given facility. Most of the information in these documents can serve as best practice tips. Inspection requirements are indicated by the words "must" or “shall.”

Radiation machine registration is open for 2026.
The registration process is now online.
Follow the steps below to register online. You should also receive an email from the Radiological Health Program with an invitation to register.
Register your machine
1. Register online
The online registration form is open for 2026. Use the form to confirm your business's information and the type and number of machines at your business.

2. Check for your invoice
After filling out the online registration form, you will receive an invoice by email. You will need this invoice to complete the payment process.
You may not receive the invoice on the same day you submit the registration.
Be sure to check your inbox for the invoice to complete the registration process.
3. Payment
There are two ways to make a payment.

Your invoice number is required to pay through the portal.

must
include a copy of your invoice. Make out checks to:

4. Certification
You will receive an electronic copy of your certification by email. Be sure to print and display your certificate as required.
You may not receive the certificate the same day you make a payment.
5. Inspections
Once your machine is certified, your facility may be subject to routine inspections. By law, Health Department inspectors are permitted to inspect your establishment at all reasonable times.
Inspections do not replace regular maintenance of your machine. Be sure to follow maintenance recommendations and keep documentation that you have done so. Inspectors will review the required documents listed in the
Radiological Health Rule
during routine inspection.
