Additional Resources
Housing and food estimates are based on the
Hercules Meal Plan, which is required of first-year students at a cost of $4,100 per semester, and housing in a first-year residence hall at the rate of $4,900 per semester.
Students at the residential campuses should factor housing costs as part of the cost of attendance whether they live on or off campus.
All first-year students are required to live on campus for the first two academic years. Transfer students who are 21 years of age or older on or before September 1 of their year of entry to the University are not required to live on campus but may request to live on campus if space is available. Please reference the catalog for the complete housing policy and exemptions.

Direct Costs are charges billed to your student account each semester and include tuition, fees, campus housing and dining plan/food.
Indirect Costs are an estimate of additional funds needed. You should allow for expenses such as books, supplies, personal hygiene, laundry and transportation. Although these expenses may be covered by financial aid, we do not recommend borrowing for them unless no other funds are available.
Net Direct Costs are determined by subtracting your annual financial aid awards from the estimated direct costs. These costs may be covered through external scholarships, a Federal Parent Loan (PLUS), a private loan and/or our payment plan.
Estimated Indirect Costs (actual amounts may vary based on individual circumstances):
Books and Supplies: $1,290
Transportation: $1,800
Miscellaneous: $1,950
Total Estimated Indirect Costs: $5,040
Mandatory Fees per semester include:
$100: Student Government Association (SGA) fee (subject to change)
$205: Health Services fee*
$365: Technology fee

$135: International Student Service fee per semester (International Students only)
Program, Course and Lab Fees:
$337: College of Engineering Program students
$505: ATC AS Lab Fee
$420: UAS Lab Fee — UAS students and minors receive fee when enrolled in UAS classes.
Fees are charged to all Engineering or UAS students regardless of modality or class mode.

Flight Instruction at Embry-Riddle
Embry-Riddle's flight program is designed to allow students to earn their ratings in three years (unlike many other schools). Embry-Riddle also lobbied Congress to allow its students to receive a restricted ATP with 500 less hours than the FAA-mandated 1,500 hours, allowing our students to be years ahead of others in their career field. Students pay after each flight activity and costs vary by student ability, flight ratings being pursued, and other factors. Flight training takes place in state-of-the-art aircraft — Cessna 172s and Diamond DA42s — with Garmin G1000 glass cockpits and ADS-B real-time radar. Additional flight training takes place in NX CubCrafters and the Cessna 152s utilized by
Golden Eagle Flight Team
U.S. Citizens
Although you may apply for admission at any time, we urge you to do so early. U.S. citizens and permanent residents should apply at least 60 days prior to the beginning of classes for the semester of application.
International Applicants
International applicants should apply at least 90 days prior to the beginning of classes for the semester of application.
How do I pay for flight training?
After completing the training session, you may pay for your session online through the Education and Training Administration (ETA) system. You may pay with a credit card, debit card or with your Flight Account. The Flight Account is a prepaid deposit account where account funds are accessible to pay for flight activities only. Remember, any combination of these payment methods may be used at any time.
Fixed Wing Flight Fees
All course estimates for flight courses are based on
minimum
course requirements. Because each student will advance based on their own individual flying proficiency during each phase of their training, students are encouraged to budget additional funds to account for individual progress.
In addition to their academic credit hour tuition costs, flight students should budget between $20,000-$30,000 per academic year while they are actively flying. It is imperative that students have sufficient funds available to start and complete flight courses. This ensures continuity of training  and helps to avoid additional flight costs.
It is also highly recommended that students plan to fly a minimum of one complete summer semester during their tenure. Required flight courses are listed on the next page. When students successfully complete all required courses they will have Commercial and Multi-Engine Instrument ratings and will have gained over 190 hours of aeronautical experience.

Students receiving U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Educational Assistance:
The required flight training hours for each flight course are as indicated on the Training Course Outlines (TCO).
The associated costs per hour, per resource, for the TCO hours are the maximum amounts VA will consider for payment. If flight training hours exceed the number of TCO hours approved by the State Approving Agency (SAA), any additional training expenses must be paid by the student and not VA
. VA will cover flight courses only as part of SAA approved degree program requirements which require a component of flight. Students who receive VA educational assistance for programs other than approved degree programs with a component of flight, may not take flight courses as electives or to fulfill other academic requirements. Flight courses taken outside of the SAA approved degree programs, will not be covered with VA educational assistance. Additional information on utilizing VA benefits for flight training may be found at the
Veterans Resources page
