Dear Parents, Students and Staff:
There are still a number of students who have not returned to the Academy as a result of illness or Covid-related illness, so I thought it would be worthwhile to send you a few reminders of our protocols. This information will be important to many of the students travelling internally as well for YAGP and other competitions. Please review it carefully.
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS AND GUIDANCE:
Below please see some highlights from the DC Travel Guidance:
FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS: All air passengers boarding an international flight to the United States, including US residents returning home,
MUST show a negative COVID-19 test regardless of vaccination status.
The test must be dated no more than one (1) day prior to the trip
FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS: Fully vaccinated people should get a COVID-19 test 3-5 days after international travel;
FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS: Non-fully vaccinated people should get a COVID-19 test one (1) day before leaving on their trip, AND get another test 3-5 days after arriving in DC, AND self-quarantine for seven (7) days after arriving in DC, even if the test is negative; if no test is done, MUST self-quarantine for ten (10) days;
FOR DOMESTIC TRAVELERS: Fully vaccinated people may travel within the US without the need for testing or travel-related quarantine, unless symptoms are showing;
FOR DOMESTIC TRAVELERS: Non-fully vaccinated people should get a COVID-19 test 1-3 days before leaving on the trip, AND get another test 3-5 days after arriving in DC, AND QUARANTINE for seven (7) days after arriving in DC, even if the test is negative; if no test is done, they MUST self-quarantine for ten (10) days.
Any People who have had COVID-19 (and recovered) within the past 90 days may provide documentation of this in lieu of getting a COVID-19 test.
o Documentation of Recovery consists of:
■ A positive COVID-19 viral test result performed within the past 90 days
NOTE
: a positive blood test for COVID-19 antibodies is not an allowable substitute for a viral test.
AND
■ A signed letter from a health care provider or public health official cleaning the individual for travel.
• A clearance from the isolation letter will also suffice.
