Most of the collecting done by the Mississippi Entomological Museum (MEM) has been centered in the southeastern Unitied States, especially in Mississippi, but also to lesser degrees in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Florida. Many of our collections are made in specific habitats, while others are made in State Parks, National Forests, Wildlife Management Areas, National Wildlife Refuges, etc. When making collections of arthropods in State or Federal lands it is neccessary to obtain the proper permits, and of course, when collecting on private land, it is essential to obtain permission from the landowner.
