Summer Experiential Learning Program in Leesburg
You can participate in Beacon’s intensive career-focused summer program – Career Treks! You’ll be exposed to different career opportunities and embark on field trips to some of Florida’s largest companies and nonprofits. Career Treks provides skills-based learning options and delves into more than simply job titles helping you find your career path.

In the Field
Career Trek students explored careers in game development at UCF’s globally ranked Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy where they learned more about the graduate program for a master of science in interactive entertainment.
4Rivers hosted our Career Treks students for behind-the-scenes tours learning about farm to table, regenerative agriculture, biodiversity and most of all giving back to the community.
Publix hosted Career Treks students where they learned about opportunities in how their majors could lead them into talent acquisition, brand marketing, real estate development, risk management and compliance.
Career Treks students toured an Amazon fulfillment center where they saw firsthand how robotics and AI directly influence nearly every shipment that Amazon is responsible for.
About the Program
Through this unique experience, you’ll learn about career pipelines for a variety of majors and minors and have a better understanding of the competitive employment market for new graduates. You’ll visit work sites, attend discussion panels, and network with industry professionals throughout Central Florida. Additionally, you’ll be able to explore certifications and microcredentials adding value to your degree.
The Career Treks program provides you the opportunity to earn 50% of the 80-hour experiential learning hours required to graduate.
Virtual Internship Opportunity
New for Career Treks 2026! In addition to the two-week on campus program, we are offering a 12-week virtual internship option. Direct placement in a 12-week virtual internship (completed remotely, off-campus for set hours each day/week.) Program cost includes all internship placement services, ongoing student support/coaching, and progress monitoring by Career Center staff until program concludes.
Through the virtual internship option, you will have the opportunity to earn 80+ additional experiential learning hours.

Eligibility
Open to all Beacon students. Only 40 students in good standing will be accepted.
Is transportation provided?
All transportation to the employer site visits and other excursions are included.
