Advice and Guidance for your Future
While you are learning at East Coast College, in the classroom or as an apprentice, we want to help and support you with your future plans and we have lots of services available to do this. The next step in your journey is supported by a whole college approach to careers information, advice and guidance.
Your teacher, careers adviser, student achievement mentor or apprenticeship employer and assessor are your first points of contact for career/progression guidance and will help you through your career and wellbeing programme and 1:1 sessions.
Apprentices will work on tasks via OneFile and get involved with tutorials. If you are a student off campus you have access to careers information, advice and guidance through our virtual learning environment – Moodle or via one of our friendly careers team.
What you do after studying with ECC is really important to us. We are here to help guide you to make the right decisions for your future and to support you with your decisions.
We review our practice at least annually before the end of September and update policies in line with Government guidance, to deliver the best advice and guidance to you. The majority of our students move to positive destinations after finishing their course. Each year we track the destinations of our students, to help inform our careers offer. The college will use student intervention data, student voice, destination information, curriculum lead feedback, which may include employer voice, parent and carer voice and quality audit feedback to review the effectiveness of careers offer.
Our careers advisers can help you:
Understand the progression options available to you, including further study, training, Apprenticeships and employment
Prepare for employment with help creating a CV, making applications and mock interviews
Choose and apply for Higher Education level courses and vocational training
Consider the best work placement for you, alongside our placement team
Understand local and national employment in your chosen career sector and access career profiles
Give coaching and advice on positive progression routes, helping you plan your career
You can find help and information in a number of ways including:
1:2:1 appointments or drop-in sessions in person, on the telephone, virtual or email with careers advisors, Higher Education Champions and our Level 6 careers team
