As with any organization, the City advertises positions based on vacancies. The City updates its communication tools (Website and Job Posting Boards, etc.) every week so you can be assured of the most up to date vacancy listings.
The city does not have a set date to hire Firefighters. Decisions to hire are based on the number of current vacancies.

The City of Longmont notifies people whether or not they were selected for an interview. Depending on the position applied for, applicants will be contacted by either phone, postcard or email to let them know of their status in the recruitment process.
Starting in March, the City of Longmont Recreation, Parks, and Golf divisions begin recruiting for many part-time and full-time temporary jobs. Some of the positions open include Maintenance Workers in Parks and Golf, Water Safety Instructors, Beach Managers, Seasonal Rangers, Lifeguards, Scorekeepers, Sports Officials, Day Camp Leaders and others.
The pay ranges depend on the position and qualifications of the applicant. Minimum age for employment is sixteen years. Assignments vary in length from 3 to 6 months. Work schedule will vary depending on the position and division. A City application is required and may be completed online on the website.

Several employment programs for youth are available in the area, including the Governor’s Job Hunt, Boulder County Youth Corps and Boulder County Workforce Summer Youth Program. These programs offer summer employment and training, as well as year-round job opportunities for area youth, depending on some age and eligibility requirements.
