Remember that teacher you once had?
The one who made you think differently. The one who encouraged you to never stop asking questions or helped you to realise your strengths. They left an indelible mark because human connection is at the heart of education, and education is transformative.
It’s more than learning to read, write and do sums. It’s teaching the next generation to be compassionate, critical thinkers. It’s enabling creativity to thrive and shaping young minds. Young minds who will take on jobs that don’t even exist yet. They need leaders who will future-proof our education systems. Leaders who will tackle the big questions like, “what’s the role of school in building community? How do we personalise learning and make it more inclusive? How will our education system adapt to the new industrial revolution?”
As technology evolves in leaps and bounds, education is evolving, but the role of a teacher remains as indispensable as ever. Great educators now and into the future will tell students where to look, but not what to see. They’ll prepare, motivate and empower the next generation to take on the challenges of tomorrow. So what’s next for teaching? Find out at RMIT.
