☕✨ Year 6 Tea Party ✨☕

We loved meeting our incoming Year 6 pupils at our Tea Party this week! From fun icebreakers to games and plenty of refreshments, it was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to get to know one another ahead of September. One student said 'I've made three friends already!"

A big thank you to our amazing prefects and staff for creating such a welcoming atmosphere 💙

Year 8 students finding their voice through poetry 🎤✨

Over the past three weeks, a dedicated group of Year 8 students have been working closely with poet Tariq Brown to create powerful and thought-provoking poetry as part of the Power of Voice project. This inspiring programme, organised by the @literacy_trust gives young people the opportunity to explore issues they feel passionately about and to use both the written and spoken word to express their ideas with confidence.

"I think that everybody needs to read Twilight because it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. It is full of poetry and mystery, and the pages practically turned themselves! As you get further into the story, you learn more about the unique plot - it’s so easy to get completely sucked into it. It's perfect for people who love a bit of poetry or romance. I would definitely recommend Twilight to everyone I know".

"I love the book 'Quiet Storm' because it's about a shy Year 7 girl who is constantly under the shadow of her outrageous older brother, Isaiah. She learns how to stand up to him and becomes more confident.�I'm currently enjoying The Summer I Turned Pretty because Isabel, the main character, is always fighting and arguing with her older brother, Steven, which I can relate to because I have an older brother too!" I definitely recommend it".

A Magical Afternoon at Our Literary Tea Party! 🫖📚

Our students stepped into the enchanting world of literature for a fun-filled afternoon, filled with creativity, imagination, and (of course!) delicious treats.

From beautifully themed tables to insightful conversations inspired by their favourite stories, the event brought books to life in the most magical way. Students embraced the spirit of classic literary tea parties-combining reading, creativity, and a touch of whimsy- making it a joyful celebration of our love for literature.

"Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death."

"A significantly underrated novel that I believe is a must-read. It's a plot-twisting, fascinating story with every turn of the page. It brilliantly combines high-stakes adventure with fate-changing romance. (Read it for the light at the end.) It also shows us the light in the dark, the hope in despair, and the beauty of the human spirit through its beloved heroine - a woman who undergoes a series of challenges, each making her stronger. She is a truly inspirational female protagonist".

"Being part of Axiom Maths Club has been one of the most rewarding parts of my sixth-form experience. As a Year 12 student studying maths at A level, I joined to strengthen my understanding and improve my confidence speaking in front of others. Taking on a junior mentor role has helped me do both.

I support younger students during sessions, talking through problems and encouraging them to explain their thinking. The small, friendly group makes it far less intimidating than speaking in a full class. Gradually I’ve grown more confident sharing ideas, and that confidence has carried into my lessons too.

What I enjoy most is the collaborative atmosphere. Everyone is there because they genuinely enjoy maths, so discussions feel relaxed rather than pressured. As Freya says, “I love Axiom because it allows us to talk about our shared love for maths.” That sense of community really motivates us.

The problems often require creative approaches. As Kezziah puts it, “Axiom encourages us to think outside the box.” Mentoring has strengthened my maths language, confidence, and communication skills. I’m really glad I joined. It’s a supportive space where different ages learn together, share ideas openly, and simply enjoy mathematics without unnecessary pressure".

🎓 Year 8 Scholars Programme Graduation

Congratulations to our Year 8 students who recently graduated from The Brilliant Club’s Scholars Programme.

The Brilliant Club Scholars Programme is designed to challenge pupils by giving them the opportunity to work with a PhD tutor on a challenging academic topic. Throughout the programme, students took part in university-style tutorials, completed independent research, and produced a final assignment which was graded using real university marking criteria. This experience helped them to develop critical thinking skills, academic confidence, and resilience.

The programme ended with a special graduation event, celebrating the students’ hard work and achievements.

👏 Well done to everyone involved!
