Welcome to our Academy
Uncompromising yet caring in everything that we do.
Being uncompromising yet caring is at the heart of all we do. We have unapologetically high expectations of the girls in our care and the staff who teach and support them. This is set against a backdrop of being relentlessly bothered about the well-being, progress and success of our academy body.

“Enrichment at HAB is about unlocking every student’s potential by offering inspiring opportunities that build confidence, spark ambition and develop skills for life beyond the classroom.”
“In order to make sure the transition works for every child that starts in Year 7, we make sure that we communicate with parents and carers. We make sure that we really get to know the girls and get to understand their needs.”
“We believe that education doesn’t just teach academic skills, it teaches life. By the time students leave HAB they develop the skills and attributes needed to succeed in society.”
“Our student leaders are enthusiastic, they are consistent and they are committed. They lead with compassion, ambition and respect. They sit on panels and their voices are considered and it shows that we value their ideas and their contribution to the school.”
“The support offered at HAB has pushed me personally to strive in my academics and outside my studies as well, which I am really thankful for as it has allowed me to realise my abilities.”

Our book recommendation this week as part of the #NationalYearOfReading2026 comes from Leia with a well-known dystopian novel 📚
“The republic of Gilead offered only one option: to breed.”
"I think that everyone should read The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, as it offers an eerie glimpse into a dystopian future where women have been reduced to only one option, carefully returning them to a subservient position in society. This rich, complex book creates brilliant images of oppression, which is one of the most striking aspects of this novel. This brilliantly conceived and executed book is a powerful evocation of a twenty-first-century America. It will cause you to question whether the world of Gilead is simply fiction".

Congratulations to our Year 13 students on their outstanding achievements in the Chemistry Olympiad! 🧪
Their success reflects not only their hard work and dedication, but also their ability to tackle complex, university-level scientific challenges with confidence and curiosity. Competitions like this push students beyond the A-level curriculum and develop the analytical thinking skills needed for future STEM success.
👏 These achievements are a testament to the students’ dedication, curiosity, and intellectual ambition. They should be immensely proud of their success.

Our book recommendation this week as part of the #NationalYearOfReading2026 comes from Lonia 📚
"Everyone should read this book, Grace and Fury.It is about women who have no rights. Two sisters, Serina and Nomi, face a dramatic turn of fate: one is chosen to go to the palace, while the other is sent to a prison island where women must be strong to survive. The sisters have two opposite personalities. Serina: praised her whole life to be the shining, perfect example of a woman and Nomi, a rebellious younger sister with a dangerous secret".

Our book recommendation for this week as part of the #NationalYearOfReading2026 comes from Kezziah-Rose! 📚
"I think that everybody needs to read Twilight because it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. It is full of poetry and mystery, and the pages practically turned themselves! As you get further into the story, you learn more about the unique plot - it’s so easy to get completely sucked into it. It's perfect for people who love a bit of poetry or romance. I would definitely recommend Twilight to everyone I know".

Our book recommendation this week as part of the #NationalYearOfReading2026 comes from Sudun in Year 8 📚
"I love the book 'Quiet Storm' because it's about a shy Year 7 girl who is constantly under the shadow of her outrageous older brother, Isaiah. She learns how to stand up to him and becomes more confident.I'm currently enjoying The Summer I Turned Pretty because Isabel, the main character, is always fighting and arguing with her older brother, Steven, which I can relate to because I have an older brother too!" I definitely recommend it".

Our book recommendation this week as part of the #NationalYearOfReading2026 comes from Tabasom with a classic detective novel 📚

Our recommendation this week as part of the #NationalYearOfReading2026 comes from Krisa! 📚
"Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death."
"A significantly underrated novel that I believe is a must-read. It's a plot-twisting, fascinating story with every turn of the page. It brilliantly combines high-stakes adventure with fate-changing romance. (Read it for the light at the end.) It also shows us the light in the dark, the hope in despair, and the beauty of the human spirit through its beloved heroine - a woman who undergoes a series of challenges, each making her stronger. She is a truly inspirational female protagonist".

➗✨ Axiom Maths Club: Building Confidence Through Collaboration
"Being part of Axiom Maths Club has been one of the most rewarding parts of my sixth-form experience. As a Year 12 student studying maths at A level, I joined to strengthen my understanding and improve my confidence speaking in front of others. Taking on a junior mentor role has helped me do both.
I support younger students during sessions, talking through problems and encouraging them to explain their thinking. The small, friendly group makes it far less intimidating than speaking in a full class. Gradually I’ve grown more confident sharing ideas, and that confidence has carried into my lessons too.
What I enjoy most is the collaborative atmosphere. Everyone is there because they genuinely enjoy maths, so discussions feel relaxed rather than pressured. As Freya says, “I love Axiom because it allows us to talk about our shared love for maths.” That sense of community really motivates us.
The problems often require creative approaches. As Kezziah puts it, “Axiom encourages us to think outside the box.” Mentoring has strengthened my maths language, confidence, and communication skills. I’m really glad I joined. It’s a supportive space where different ages learn together, share ideas openly, and simply enjoy mathematics without unnecessary pressure".

🎓 Year 8 Scholars Programme Graduation
Congratulations to our Year 8 students who recently graduated from The Brilliant Club’s Scholars Programme.
The Brilliant Club Scholars Programme is designed to challenge pupils by giving them the opportunity to work with a PhD tutor on a challenging academic topic. Throughout the programme, students took part in university-style tutorials, completed independent research, and produced a final assignment which was graded using real university marking criteria. This experience helped them to develop critical thinking skills, academic confidence, and resilience.
The programme ended with a special graduation event, celebrating the students’ hard work and achievements.
👏 Well done to everyone involved!
