KIT COLLECTION
The kit collection includes a variety of materials of an educational, recreational or special needs nature in various formats. Children, teachers and adults may check out these items for educational purposes and recreational enjoyment.

VIDEO GAME COLLECTION
The video game collection contains fictional and nonfiction inspired titles in a disc or game card format across multiple console platforms meant for the educational and recreational needs of the community. Children, teens and adults use this collection for recreational entertainment, as well as learn to develop interpersonal skills.

Please come to the Youth Services Department to find out how to check out a kit or video game! Patrons must have a permanent library card in order to check out kits or video games. Kits and video games have a one week checkout with one available renewal. Patrons are responsible for loss or damage.

– Read 3 informational books and complete an activity to earn a badge on a variety of subjects! Contact us for more information.
Colorado State Library Book Club Kits
– Request through the reference desk a set of books for your next book study.

– Certain materials check out for 8 weeks. Stop by the Ask Here desk for more information.
Kanopy Kids
– Kanopy Kids has a diverse selection of educational and entertaining content that range across Movies, TV Series, Animated Storybooks, Live Action, and Animated favorites.

– Comprehensive testing database.
Libby
– To access eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, & more on your mobile device, download the Libby app.
Materials Requests
– Request specific materials for upcoming projects, grade and reading levels, topics and more by calling, stopping by the library, or completing a request on the library website.
Please allow 48 hours for all requests
Overdrive Kids
– An online service for checking out eBooks, eAudioBooks, movies, and magazines on your computer.
Scholastic Bookflix
– Thematically paired fiction and nonfiction titles for the early reader.
Scholastic Teachables
– Lesson plans and activity sheets for at home learning.

Resource kits available for use by educators. Park rangers have first priority for all educational kits. Call 970-252-6000 for more information.
Colorado State University Extension STEM Kits
– Check out STEM kits for in person learning. Contact 970-249-3935 for more information.
Friends of the Montrose Library Donation Shelves
– Check the donation shelves provided by the Friends of the Library for gently used and donated materials for kids.
Friends of Youth and Nature
– An organization dedicated to getting the youth of Western Slope outdoors and learning! Visit their website for informational links, contests, and activities for your kiddo’s outdoor learning needs.
Rocky Mountain PBS Colorado Classroom
– Literacy lessons for grades K-3.
