Brigadier General Ravindra V. Wagh to speak at Adrian College Spring Commencement
Posted Tuesday, April 21, 2026
ADRIAN, Mich. — Brigadier General Ravindra V. Wagh, the Assistant to the Adjutant General-Army for the Michigan National Guard, will deliver Adrian College’s Spring Commencement address at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 3.
Wagh also serves as the special assistant to the vice chief of the National Guard Bureau for Pacific initiatives.
Wagh’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Service Medal, among other awards. He has also earned the Expert and Combat Infantryman’s badges, Senior Parachutist badge, Air Assault badge, and Ranger Tab.
“At Adrian College, we believe in preparing students to lead lives of purpose and service,” said Adrian College President Jeffrey Docking. “Brigadier General Wagh’s career is a powerful example of that mission in action, and I know his words will resonate deeply with our graduates.”
Wagh’s recent assignments include Chief of the Joint Staff (Michigan National Guard) and Commander, 54th Security Force Assistance Brigade. He also served as the G3 of the Michigan Army National Guard, which included service during the recent two-plus year domestic/pandemic response efforts.
He received his Commission as an Infantry Officer from Slippery Rock University, PA in 1994. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Captain’s Career Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, U.S. Army Airborne, Ranger, Jumpmaster, and Air Assault Schools, Bradley Leader’s Course, The Joint Staff Course, Joint Firepower Course, Combat Advisor Course, the Command and General Staff College (ILE-AOC), the Pre-Command Course (BN and BDE), the US Army War College Resident Education Program, and the Advanced Strategic Art Program.
Wagh’s degrees include a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
He is married to the former Jennifer L. Hanik and has three children, Daya, Aidan and Tara.
“Brigadier General Wagh exemplifies a life of service, leadership and global perspective,” Docking said. “His experiences and commitment to others will inspire our graduates as they take their next steps and make an impact in their own communities.”
Docking added that the College is honored to recognize and express its gratitude to the men and women who serve in the armed forces.
“We are deeply grateful for all they provide to citizens across our great country through their commitment and sacrifice,” he said.
Thomas Riethmiller, a distinguished alumnus of Adrian College and a prominent leader in the medical technology and healthcare distribution industry will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.
A 1978 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Riethmiller has served as owner and president of Adrian Medical, a role he assumed in 1986. Under his leadership, the company has become a critical link in the global healthcare supply chain, maintaining long-standing partnerships with industry leaders such as GE Healthcare and Skytron.
Beyond his professional success, Riethmiller remains a devoted supporter of Adrian College. He and his wife, Teresa, were instrumental to the College’s new rugby pitch, and he has served as a key advocate for the sport on campus.
The Riethmillers currently reside in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
