A variety of federal and state funded educational loan repayment and scholarship programs are available to health care professionals in Vermont. These incentive programs often help meet the needs of Vermonters in underserved areas. Many of these programs require a commitment to work in Vermont, typically for one year at a time.

National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
NHSC program supports many primary care, oral health and mental health providers in approved sites located in eligible designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).

The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program
The PSLF program is available to employees of many government and not-for-profit organizations regardless of your specific job. The PSLF forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
