The Renaming Process
The land that the Gichigamiin Indigenous Nations Museum occupies today is the unceded, ancestral homelands of the Council of Three Fires: the Anishinaabeg (Ojibwe), Odawak (Odawa), and Bodéwadmik (Potawatomi) Nations.

Living Stories: Contemporary Woodland Native American Art
has been extended into June of 2026! This exhibit explores the evolving relationship between traditional Woodland Native American art and its contemporary interpretations, featuring the works of living artists who are pushing these traditions forward. Featuring:

is part of Art Design Chicago, a citywide collaboration initiated by the Terra Foundation for American Art that highlights the city’s artistic heritage and creative communities.

Private Tour Options
We offer visitors the option to schedule 90-minute private, onsite tours. Guests can discover the museum with a docent-led tour Tuesday-Friday starting at 10am and 12:30pm.
For the safety of our guests and staff, the Gichigamiin Indigenous Nations Museum can accommodate private tours for classes or groups ranging from 10-50 people. Reservations must be made 2 weeks in advance.
