State and County Histories
Book collections include materials pertaining to Oklahoma as well as other states. County histories contain information about the events that shaped a region's history and often include valuable details about early settlers, cemeteries, schools, churches, and more.
Family Histories
The Research Center houses more than 5,000 family histories donated by various individuals and organizations. Many of these books are rare or unpublished and can only be found in the Research Center. The Research Center is home to the state library of the Oklahoma Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. This collection includes DAR Lineage Books as well as the Patriot Indexes. The Oklahoma Genealogical Society’s vast book collection is also found in the Research Center.
To locate family history books, search the library catalog by typing the family name in the keyword field. Remember to write down the full call number, author, and title. Family history books are arranged by call number, not by surname.
