Play Without Boundaries
For this special event series, the Museum is adapted to provide a relaxed environment for individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and other sensory or communication needs.
BUY TICKETS
During Play Without Boundaries events, the Museum is closed to the general public for two hours and turns down lighting and sound to provide a quieter experience for families.
The Museum offers tools to enhance your visit including pre-trip guides, Quiet Zones, and programming with educators who are trained for autism sensitivity. Community partner resources are also provided.

Designated Therapists and/or Caregivers
Therapists and care providers play important roles in allowing visitors with special needs to fully experience the Museum. We are pleased to offer one (1) complimentary admission ticket at the request of a designated therapist, care provider or personal care attendant who is aiding a paid visitor or member requiring medical or physical assistance during their visit to the Museum. The request for a complimentary admission ticket must be made at the time of the visitor or member admission and is only valid during that single visit.
Museum Accessibility
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome in the Museum. As defined by the ADA, a service animal is any dog that is trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, or therapy dogs are not allowed into the Museum as they are not service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Restrooms
Restrooms are located throughout the Museum on both floors. Baby changing stations are available in select restrooms.
Parking
Designated parking spaces are available for those with special physical needs in the Museum Parking Lot, adjacent to Memorial Hall.
Nursing Room
Our Nursing Room, located on the lower level between the bathrooms in the hallway behind the Creative Arts Studio is available for use.
First Aid
First Aid Kits are available throughout the Museum. If you would like access to one, please ask our floor staff. You may also store medical equipment or medications at the Admissions Desk at any time during your visit.
Strollers
Strollers are welcome. The entire Museum is stroller accessible.
Wheelchair Accessibility
A limited number of wheelchairs are available in adult size, free of charge, at the Admissions Desk. An ID will be held until the wheelchair is returned upon the conclusion of your visit. The entire Museum is accessible via wheelchair, including bathrooms, water fountains and the Carousel. The elevator in Roadside Attractions serves each of the Museum’s two floors and ramps are located at the Museum’s exterior front entrance and in River Adventures.
