Mock Trial Wins 2026 Essex County Championship

Newark Academy’s Mock Trial Team defeated cross-town rival Livingston High School to win its fourth Essex County Championship in five years on Tuesday, February 10 at the Newark Municipal Court.
The team took the No. 1 spot out of 20 other schools competing in the tournament and now advances to the regional competition.
“This was far more than just a ‘win’ for us,” says

, a club leader and attorney for the defense team. “It felt like a meaningful acknowledgment of the countless hours of practice, preparation and discussion we’ve put in since October.”
