stablished by the Dakshin Dinajpur University Act, 2018, Dakshin
Dinajpur University is on target for commencing the first
Academic Session 2021-22.Dakshin Dinajpur district within its present boundaries is only 29 years old, having been carved
out in the 1992 bifurcation of erstwhile West Dinajpur district into the new districts of North and South Dinajpur. The
predecessor district of West Dinajpur district was itself produced by the 1947 partitioning of the Dinajpur district of
undivided Bengal, and the subsequent reorganization of Indian states on linguistic lines in 1956, which transferred the
territory of Islampur from Bihar’s Purnea district....
