If you are having issues paying for heating oil, you may be able to get help via the
Crisis and Resilience Fund
, which is administered for the whole of Essex by Southend City Council.
Benefits
You must have a
right to reside
to claim Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Crisis and Resilience Fund Housing Payment (formerly known as Discretionary Housing Payments).
If you (or your partner) are of working age, you may not be able to make a new claim for Housing Benefit. Instead, you will need to apply for Universal Credit to help pay your rent.

If you are applying for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction at the same time, you only need to fill in the application form once.
