Claremont Colleges 1-Year Masters - Claremont Graduate University
The Claremont Colleges 1-Year Masters is a combined bachelor’s and master’s program that allows you to start working towards a graduate degree while completing your undergraduate studies.
Claremont Graduate University (CGU) offers undergraduate students of The Claremont Colleges,
Soka University
, and
SUNY Geneseo
the Claremont Scholars Fellowship
, which covers
50% of the tuition and provides priority admission
into a combined bachelor’s to master’s program. Earn your CGU master’s degree in as little as one year* while completing your bachelor’s degree.
How the Program Works
Apply Early to a Master’s Program:
Apply for a master’s program through the Claremont Colleges 1-Year Masters Application—typically during your junior year—for a future semester.
Register for Courses:
Coordinate a course plan between you, CGU, and your undergraduate advisor.
Receive Graduate Program Credit:
Once admitted, you can earn up to 16 units of graduate-level credit before officially entering your desired graduate program. The number of transferable credits varies by program.
Program Benefits
Priority admission with a minimum 2.79 GPA
$80 application fee waived
Tuition deposit waived
Receive a guaranteed 50% tuition fellowship
Maintain continuity with faculty and research facilities
*Program completion times may vary depending on course registration, units transferred, and time to complete other degree requirements. The MA in Education with Teaching Credential program is not eligible for the additional tuition fellowship.
Additional Fellowships
Hunsaker Family Fellowship
This fellowship is awarded annually to two outstanding Claremont McKenna College students with demonstrated financial need who have enrolled through the Claremont Colleges 1-Year Masters program. Each student will receive $25,000 towards their CGU tuition in their first year as full-time students at CGU.
“With CGU approaching its centennial anniversary, I was reminded of the long-standing synergies with CMC. I am especially fond of the benefits my peers and I received from the Drucker School of Management in prior recurrences of the 4+1 program. We are excited to offer a similar opportunity to future generations.”
—Ben Hunsaker
Hunsaker received a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting from Claremont McKenna College and a master of business administration from Claremont Graduate University’s Drucker School of Management in 2006.
