Donor Spotlights
Clyde and Sandra Strickland
Longtime PCOM Georgia supporters Clyde and Sandra Strickland made a transformational $1 million gift to expand the Clyde and Sandra Strickland Endowed Doctoral Scholarship. Originally established five years ago, the scholarship helps students pursuing doctoral degrees at PCOM Georgia who graduated from Gwinnett County Public Schools. This new commitment makes the Strickland’s scholarship the largest donor-endowed scholarship across all three campus locations. The Stricklands’ generosity provides an annual scholarship to three students – one from each of PCOM Georgia’s doctoral programs.
Thomas J. Gravina
As Chairman of the PCOM Board of Trustees, Mr. Gravina has been committed to providing counsel and unwavering support to PCOM throughout its long history of success. It was his vision and dedication that led the institution to conceive, plan, and launch the United & Ignited campaign. Mr. Gravina has committed $500,000 to the campaign to advance strategic initiatives at PCOM, especially student success. In addition to making his own gifts, Mr. Gravina has been responsible for raising significant contributions to PCOM through a variety of initiatives over the past 20 years, including the golf outing and A Night to Ignite Gala.
Gregory Papadeas, DO ‘88
Dr. Papadeas has been faithfully contributing to the Dr. and Mrs. Gregory G. Papadeas & Family Endowed Scholarship for nearly 10 years, which provides tuition support to osteopathic medical students of Greek heritage. A dermatologist with a multi-site practice in Colorado, Dr. Papadeas hosted a gathering of PCOM alumni at his home in June 2019, where the featured guest was Carol Fox. He made one of the first gifts to the United & Ignited campaign in 2023.
Kelly Strickler, DO 17
In 2023, Dr. Strickler committed to endowing a scholarship to benefit osteopathic medical students with financial need. A family medicine physician currently in practice with Lehigh Valley Health Network, Dr. Strickler is a third generation osteopathic physician. In addition to following in her father’s professional footsteps, Dr. Strickler has mirrored his philanthropic support of PCOM with her scholarship commitment.
Necie Liggeons, MS/ODL '20
Necie Liggeons has been a loyal donor to PCOM since 2016. As both a PCOM alumna and PCOM’s chief development and alumni engagement officer, she sees the value in giving back first-hand. With a commitment to all PCOM locations, Necie has contributed to funds spanning a variety of programs. In addition, she made gifts to secure both a brick paver in PCOM’s donor garden and a tile on the periodic table of Elements of PCOM Georgia's Future.
Lee Ann Van Houten-Sauter, DO ‘91
Paying tribute to her father, Dr. Houten-Sauter created the Paul A. Van Houten, DO ’62 Memorial Endowed Scholarship to benefit fourth year osteopathic medical students who hail from southern New Jersey. She has added to the scholarship every single year since establishing it in 2018 through an annual golf outing and other fundraisers. Dr. Houten-Sauter is a family medicine physician at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill in New Jersey.
