You Are Here: The Story of Treasure Island
top of page
A quarter million people drive past Treasure Island and through Yerba Buena Island every day, but few are familiar with their rich heritage. Welcome to the unique stories of Treasure Island, and the remarkable history of creativity, resilience and transformation which is reflected in the community living here today.
Drawing upon Treasure Island Museum’s rich collection of historical artifacts and photographs, “You Are Here” explores the groundbreaking engineering of the artificial island and the Bay Bridge and the dazzling arts of the Golden Gate International Exposition, the women who led the way as WAVES during World War II, the Administration Building’s brief role as a terminal for Pan Am Clipper airplanes, the decades TI served as a Naval Base, and the current transformation of the islands into a thriving community.
“You are Here” celebrates Treasure and Yerba Buena Islands’ history and also Treasure Island Museum’s newly expanded space in the legendary Administration Building. There are many more stories yet to be told about Treasure Island.
