Immunizations and Policies
Woodbury’s Immunization Policy
Woodbury University follows guidelines for colleges and universities provided by the state of California and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Vaccines protect students from diseases that can derail academic progress. Everyone on campus, including faculty, staff, and visitors–and especially the most vulnerable among us–are safer when students are vaccinated, thanks in part, to the impact increased immunity can have on the greater University community. So, while not required, COVID-19 immunization by members of our community is encouraged and appreciated.
Woodbury University, in alignment with national guidance and state law, expects all  students, at the time of initial enrollment, to attest to receipt of the following vaccinations:
Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR):
series of 2 vaccines
Varicella (chickenpox):
series of 2 vaccines
Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap):
to include proof of a booster shot of Td or Tdap within the last 10 years
Hepatitis B:
series of 3 vaccines
Meningococcal [1]:
at least one vaccine at age 16 or older
Recommended Vaccinations*

Annual Influenza (Flu)
Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
TB skin test (Mantoux or Quantiferon)  is encouraged
Following the easing of COVID-19 protocols by state and county government agencies, while the University will no longer require students to receive or provide proof of any COVID-19 vaccinations,
it is strongly encouraged.
This decision reflects similar updates made by many universities and businesses in light of evolving public health guidelines.
[1] Common names of this vaccine are menactra, menveo, menomune, and MCV4. This is not the meningitis B vaccine.

Submit Mandatory Vaccination Attestation Form
Woodbury University requires all students to be vaccinated as a condition of enrollment as stated in the Vaccination Expectations. To accomplish this, new students must list their vaccination via the Vaccination Attestation Form located in the student’s Online SOAR Canvas course under The New Student Checklist.

Do not wait until the last minute to work on your vaccination form.  Give yourself ample time to schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider should any immunizations be missing or expired.
Why do I need to fill out these forms?

. The Vaccination Attestation form ensures that your vaccinations are up to date and protect from certain infectious diseases.
What happens if I don’t complete and submit the attestation form?
Due to the heightened risk of transmission of disease in close quarters, students
residing
on campus who do not complete and
submit
the attestation form will not be issued their room key
on move in day
. Students living off-campus who do not complete and
submit
the attestation may have a hold place on their record
.

What immunizations are required for me to attend Woodbury University?

Can I upload a copy of my immunization card instead of filling out the immunization history form?
No. Simply select the immunizations
you’ve
received on the Vaccination Attestation Statement.
What if I’ve had these immunizations but cannot obtain records?
You can contact your pediatrician’s office, local school district, previous college, etc. and ask if they have your records. For COVID records, the state in which you received your vaccination should have a record of the injection(s).  “Google COVID testing record [insert STATE].”  If you cannot confirm the necessary vaccination(s).
You may test for immunity if you have received the MMR, varicella, and/or hepatitis B vaccines in the past by doing a blood draw called a titer through a medical provider.  If the titer for a specific disease shows that you’re not immune, you need to get vaccinated or re-vaccinated.  Tests for immunity are not available for meningococcal or Tdap so you will need to be vaccinated.
Are vaccination exemptions considered?
Only medical exemptions will be considered for vaccinations
.
Exemption for medical reasons may be communicated on the Vaccination Attestation Form
with a
signed statement
from a
physician documenting a physical or medical condition that contraindicates vaccination or other evidence of immunity. California law restricts who can provide documentation for medical exemptions (MD or DO
licensed
in California) and outlines the information
required
in the exemption statement.

Urgent Situations & Emergencies
What is an urgent situation?
An urgent situation is one in which you are concerned about yourself or another person who may be:
at risk for suicide
at risk for harm to others
having difficulty functioning, i.e., not eating, not sleeping, etc.
psychotic symptoms, i.e., hearing voices or seeing things that are not there
These sorts of situations cannot wait for a routine intake appointment. Here are your options:
You can reach a crisis counselor by calling the Counseling Center’s 24/7 Crisis Line: 909-748-8960
During business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm:
Call the Redlands Counseling Center, 909-748-8108, and let the administrative assistant know that you (or another student) need(s) to talk with a therapist as soon as possible. The administrative assistant will need to talk with the student to obtain contact information and a brief description of the situation.
If the crisis counselor is not available at that time, the administrative assistant will ask for the student’s availability that day and will schedule a same-day phone assessment. The crisis counselor will call the student at the agreed-upon time, will make a phone assessment, and develop a plan for the student for care.
