Our principles
We have over 70 years of experience in training the next generation of teachers, first operating as Newton Park Teacher Training College in 1946. We deliver outstanding training by following four principles:
We work in
collaboration
across a diverse partnership towards a shared vision of a well qualified and highly skilled teaching profession, built on each other’s strengths and expertise.
We nurture
creativity
around innovative pedagogy in order to prepare our teachers to thrive in an ever-changing educational context.
We develop
critical thinking
through engagement with a diversity of perspectives, reflection and the integration of theory and practice.
We are committed to
care
, recognising the needs of all individuals, supporting personal wellbeing and helping our teachers to develop empathy and emotional resilience.
Our Teacher Education partnership
Our partnership is committed to the successful learning and progress of all children and young people.
As a trainee within our Teacher Education partnership, you'll undergo rigorous training that ensures children progress, and paves the way to your future success as a teacher.

Teacher Education Events
At our Teacher Education Events you’ll learn about the different routes into teaching, entry requirements, fees, scholarships, bursaries, and how to apply. You’ll also get the chance to ask our staff any questions you may have.
Please note, these events are most suited for individuals who have already completed an undergraduate degree. If you’re interested in teaching and haven’t completed a degree, we’d encourage you to book onto one of our
undergraduate open days
where you can find out about undergraduate routes into teaching and our education courses.
