Photography at SAAS:
See Differently, Share Boldly
Photography at SAAS is rooted in creative personal expression. Students use their lens to explore identity and to observe the world around them while building a strong technical and artistic foundation. They gain experience with equipment, techniques, and creative processes that help them produce memorable images.
Courses include Beginning Black & White Photography, as well as Digital, Experimental, and Advanced Photography. Students work with a range of formats, including 35mm, medium format, and 4x5 view cameras, and develop skills in black-and-white, color, and digital imaging.
At the core of the program is the intersection of analog and digital photography. Students learn camera operations, printing techniques, and digital editing with Adobe software, while also exploring creative possibilities through mixed media, alternative printing methods, and interdisciplinary approaches to image-making. Students also learn about current and historical movements in photography.
