At Lebanon Valley College, we celebrate collaborative research and creative achievement. Students from every discipline are encouraged to participate in research that interests them starting in their undergraduate years; for many students, this leads directly to graduate opportunities or jobs post-graduation.
With mentorship and support from your professors, you can explore your interests and bolster your résumé, allowing you to hit the ground running in your chosen career.
Additionally, LVC annually hosts Inquiry, a weeklong showcase where you can share your independent work with the entire LVC community and celebrate everyone’s achievements.
World-Class Science Facilities
Students in health sciences programs, like clinical exercise physiology and physical therapy, conduct research in our Lewis Human Performance and Gross Anatomy labs. These labs, along with the larger Jeanne and Edward H. Arnold Health Professions Pavilion, are equipped with materials and resources usually only found at major research universities or corporations. You’ll work with your professors and peers to discover new ways to help your patients and push health professions forward.

The Brew Crew
Every year, an interdisciplinary group of LVC students and professors work together to create Flying Dutchman Ale in collaboration with a local brewery. Nicknamed the Brew Crew, these students (with faculty guidance) get to formulate, design the label, and market the ale, bringing it to life each year.

Mathematical Physics Research Group
The Mathematical Physics Research Group is an interdisciplinary research effort between students and faculty in the math, physics, and computer science programs. The group, led by Dr. David Lyons, has been awarded over $1 million in research funding by the National Science Foundation.

A Head Start with Research First
For some students, their research experience takes place even earlier than undergrad. LVC’s Research First program welcomes incoming first-year students with the opportunity to conduct one-on-one
paid
research with a professor and/or student-faculty research teams the summer before they start at The Valley. Research First grants are available in six different programs.

Celebrating Student Research, Scholarship, and Creativity
Inquiry is a celebration of student research, scholarship, and creative achievement coinciding with the Council for Undergraduate Research’s week-long celebration of student accomplishments.
Symposium
The Inquiry Symposium is a signature event showcasing LVC students’ diverse talents. At the symposium, undergraduates from every academic department display their work to an audience of faculty, peers, Trustees, and administrators.
