Financial Assistance for Current Students
Financial Assistance for Current Students
The
great majority of financial aid
is awarded during the admission process. This helps students understand the cost
of attending Chapman as they decide where to attend college. Financial aid is generally
not awarded or changed for current students.
However,
we do offer certain forms of post-matriculation assistance to help students get the
most out of their Chapman experience and handle unforeseen emergencies
Make the most of your Chapman experience
There are various scholarships, grants, and resources to help you maximize your college
experience and reach your full potential at Chapman, including:
Research funding
Chapman provides many resources to support student research, enabling you to pursue
your interests and contribute to your field of study:
The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program
is a paid on-campus summer program offering Chapman undergraduate students hands-on
research experience and creative scholarship mentored by expert faculty.
Chapman also offers
individual project funding
and
travel grants
for conference presentations.
You can find more information about these resources on the
Center for Undergraduate Excellence website
Study abroad funding
We encourage every student to make studying abroad part of their Chapman experience.
To help make this possible,
tuition is waived
for your first travel course or international internship.
To help with the cost of travel and living/studying abroad, there are many outside
scholarships available. Those receiving Pell Grants can apply for a
Gilman International Scholarship
Visit the
Study Abroad Scholarships and Funding page
for more details and a curated list of outside scholarships that will allow you to
unlock your global potential.
Creative awards
Chapman offers a variety of scholarships, awards, and grants to support your creative
endeavor, such as:
The Undergraduate Scholarly/Creative Grant Program
Dodge College awards and grants
Student employment
Nearly every department at Chapman hires student workers, so there are plenty of opportunities
to make money by working on campus—all while gaining professional skills.

Student Employment page

Student housing over breaks
Chapman’s on-campus residence halls remain open during holiday breaks
. This can also be a great opportunity to explore the area with the extra free time
you will have without classes.
Elena Bisharat ‘25
Acting and directing major & international student
“I stayed on campus over winter break due to the long distance to my home country
of Jordan. Being far from family during the holidays is tough, especially when everyone
else goes home to see theirs. Fortunately, I felt safe and comfortable in Chapman
housing and kept myself busy with activities around Orange County and Los Angeles.”
Hardship assistance
The resources listed below can help students who are experiencing financial difficulties
that may hinder their academic or personal success or ability to remain enrolled at
Chapman:
Student Hardship Assistance Fund
Students have financial obligations beyond just their tuition, such as
housing, food, transportation, and technology expenses.
If you struggle in these areas, you can turn to the
Student Hardship Assistance Fund
, which is Chapman’s way of providing financial support to students in need or facing
an unexpected hardship.
Jerry Price
Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
“The Student Hardship Fund has paid for students’ transportation home during a family
crisis and hospital bills during a medical emergency. It has also been a lifeline
for students or parents who unexpectedly lose employment, helping with rent, gas,
food, and more. This vital support makes a Chapman education more attainable for all
students.”
Food pantries
We offer
two food pantries
(one on the Orange and Rinker Campuses) to support students experiencing food insecurity.
The pantries provide healthy meal options to help ensure student success at Chapman.
You can learn more about the food pantries below and how to request access on the
Chapman Food Pantries page
