Every year, grandparents, family members, and friends gather from near and far to experience a day in the life on Canterbury’s hilltop. On April 15, Grandparents & Friends Day offered these very special visitors a meaningful glimpse into the rhythms, relationships, and traditions that shape daily life at the School.
The day began with a Mass in the Chapel of Our Lady led by our chaplain,
Rev. Brendan Horan, S.J.
, setting a reflective and joyful tone as the community came together in prayer. Following the service, guests gathered in the Steers Center for breakfast, remarks from Head of School
Caroline Blatti
, and a musical performance from the School’s Varsity Voices. But of course, the main event was connecting with their Saints. Ragland Commons was a sea of happy reunions and, of course, plenty of hugs to go around.
Visitors were then invited to fully immerse themselves in the Canterbury experience. They attended classes alongside students, explored the campus, and shared a meal in the Dining Hall. Students and their guests even had the opportunity to stop by the D'Amour Center for Faith, Service & Justice for a drop-in service project and a student art show in the Edward J. Duffy Family Gallery.
The afternoon was filled with spirited athletic contests, and cheers could be heard across fields and courts.
As the day came to a close, guests headed home with a better sense of our hilltop community. We look forward to welcoming them back soon, because even if they are not here every day, they, too, are a part of the Canterbury family.
