Happy Birthday, Holton
record-breaking Day of Giving
as we celebrated
125 years of Holton
. Your generosity, enthusiasm, and school spirit made this milestone moment truly special.

HOLTON HIGHLIGHTS
Women & Power for Good Summit
At Holton-Arms, conversations about women and power are grounded in purpose, agency, and community. While power is often misunderstood or narrowly defined, Holton challenges students to see it as a tool for leadership, service, and positive change. This commitment was at the center of the 7th Annual Women & Power for Good Summit, which brought alumnae back to campus to engage with Upper School students about leadership, resilience, and impact.
At the same time, Holton’s Middle School hosted
Make Your Way Day
, welcoming alumnae back to campus to share their professional journeys. By connecting past and present, the program reinforced Holton’s mission to educate “not only the mind, but the soul and spirit.”
Together, the Women & Power for Good Summit and Make Your Way Day underscored the enduring strength of Holton’s intergenerational community. By opening its doors to alumnae voices and lived experience, Holton continues to show students that power is not reserved for a few—it is something to be developed, shared, and used for good.
Samantha Trepel ’98 Mentors Humanities Scholars
Public service, ethical leadership, and intellectual curiosity were at the center of a recent conversation between Holton students in the Humanities Scholars program and alumna
Samantha Trepel ’98
. Ms. Trepel’s visit offered students a candid look at how a humanities education can prepare graduates for meaningful, values-driven careers.
Congratulations,
Winter Track & Field!
Congratulations to the US Winter Track & Field team for winning the Montgomery County Indoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday, February 4. The Panthers secured the trophy with a dominant performance, finishing with 181 points and winning by 89 – the most significant victory margin in school history. This is the second-ever team title for Holton, following its first in 2020.
Thank You, Campus Facilities & Security Teams
After a massive storm and countless hours of tireless work, our Facilities & Security Teams made it possible for us to return to campus safely. The work behind the scenes was immense, with long days and nights, heavy lifting, and constant care. Because of their work and sacrifice, our community gathered to share enormous love and gratitude.
Sharing Knowledge for Professional Development
Sequoia Austin ’10
worked with Holton’s Athletics Department to facilitate professional development for the team. She led two sessions, geared toward goal setting and team building.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Panthers!
Celebrating the Class of 2025 with a special surprise and a powerful reminder: it truly takes a village.
The friendships built here last a lifetime, and so do the bonds among our families. Thank you to the parents and parents of alumnae who coordinated this meaningful gesture of love and community.

December 2025
A MOMENT OF GRATITUDE
Our annual Thanksgiving Assembly remains one of Holton’s most treasured traditions and a moment when our entire community comes together to reflect, celebrate gratitude, and lead with love. This year, students, faculty, and staff filled the Marriott Gymnasium with speeches, music, and meaningful expressions of appreciation. Seniors sat alongside their third-grade buddies, our faculty–staff band (with a student musician!) brought joyful energy, and student reflections reminded us of the quiet power of noticing, connecting, and showing up for one another.

HOLTON HIGHLIGHTS
Holton Students Lead the Way Teaching AI Tools
Angel S. ’26, Grace X. ’26, and Sofia F.S. ’27 appeared on Fox5 News on November 11, 2025, to discuss the innovative "AI Tastings" program they have piloted here at Holton-Arms! From teaching their teachers about emerging AI tools to representing the school at national conferences, Holton students are demonstrating what thoughtful, student-driven innovation looks like.
Amanda Good ’03 Leads Upper School Mental Health Assembly
Amanda Good ’03
spoke candidly about stress, capacity, and the importance of noticing what truly matters. She urged students to "hold on to what lights you up," practice pausing, and re-evaluate what they carry in their metaphorical "backpacks" by identifying what is essential and what can be set down. Good was joined by Phyllis L. Fagel, LCPC, counselor, author, and journalist, along with student panelists Journey S. ’27, Chelsie C. ’26, and Betty Rose B. ’26, for a thoughtful Q&A led by the Mental Health Club.
Black Student Union PLATES
BSU Plates was a runaway hit, just like it has been since the 1980s! The line wrapped down the hallway, seven pans of mac and cheese vanished in minutes, and every plate was served with love, soul, and community spirit. Thank you to the members of the Black Alumnae Union who came out to support our students.

Correction
In the recent addition of
Doorways
we incorrectly listed
Meredith Coté Hudson ’01
and her family. The note should read:
Meredith Coté Hudson
has been working at The Nakupuna Companies, a Native-Hawaiian owned family of companies, for almost three years now as their Director of Contracts & Procurement. She lives in Lake Ridge, Virginia, with her family: husband Jahleel, daughter Liv, and recent addition Josephine, born in June. Joining them is their dog Mr. Milo, who came into her life 17 years ago and, God willing, may still be alive by the time the issue of Doorways is published. Life is chaotic, and our last family vacation was well over a year ago, but they hope to change that soon!
We deeply regret this mistake and any confusion or inconvenience it may have caused.

HOLTON HIGHLIGHTS
Blue/White Family Gathering at Butler's Orchard
A wonderful group of Holton alumnae, spanning the classes of the 1970s through the 2010s, celebrated fall together at Butler's Orchard. We loved watching generations connect over s'mores, fresh air, and a shared love for Holton!
Upper School Students Visit the National Museum of Women in the Arts
Bringing classroom learning into the world, our Art History students visited the museum to explore the creativity, innovation, and influence of women artists.
They were able to experience and celebrate the powerful works and stories of women who shaped art across time.
Middle School Outdoor Ed
Outdoor Ed offered our 8th graders a change of classroom and scenery that opened doors to new ways of seeing and learning. At Spruce Knob, they found themselves navigating trails with a compass and studying the fragile ecosystems beneath their feet while also relying on courage, curiosity, and collaboration. In the shared experiences, seeds of stewardship and confidence took root, a growth that will continue beyond the mountains and well into their years ahead.
Blue/White Night
This year's Blue/White Night brought the Holton community out in droves! From celebrating seniors at Varsity Soccer Senior Night to the Varsity Field Hockey victory under the lights, Blue/White spirit was palpable across every corner of campus.

A NOTE FROM YOUR ALUMNAE BOARD PRESIDENT
Dear Holton-Arms Alumnae,
I am honored to introduce myself as the President of the Holton-Arms Alumnae Board for the 2025–2026 school year. I am a proud member of the Class of 2012 and a graduate of both the Georgia Institute of Technology and Johns Hopkins University. Beyond my academic journey, I serve as a member of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association’s Board of Trustees and as a regional network alumni leader for the D.C. area.
At Holton, I have remained an active alumna volunteer, serving on the Black Alumnae Union as well as the Holton-Arms Alumnae Board. Holton has always been a place that shaped my values, fostered lifelong friendships, and instilled in me a commitment to service, and it is a privilege to now give back to a community that has given me so much.
This year, the Alumnae Board is committed to strengthening connections among alumnae, enhancing engagement opportunities, and supporting Holton as it prepares to celebrate its 125th anniversary. Our goals include refining the Board’s mission and vision, building sustainable practices that reflect our community’s needs, and continuing to foster alumnae participation in ways that are meaningful and impactful.
I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members and with each of you to celebrate our rich legacy while ushering the school into its 125th year of cultivating the unique potential of young women through the
education not only of the mind, but of the soul and spirit.
Thank you for your support, your passion, and your continued dedication to Holton.
With gratitude,
Kayla Kelly ’12
President, Holton-Arms Alumnae Board
