Food for Thought Fund
According to the USDA, roughly 1 in 7 Americans experiences
food insecurity
—a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. The negative impacts of food insecurity on both physical and emotional health are well documented and range from anemia and asthma to aggression and suicidal ideation.
At Woodbury University, we believe that no student should ever need to worry about where their next meal is coming from. That’s why we are pleased to introduce the
Food for Thought
program which provides meals to students who struggle with food insecurity. The program may provide as many as 5 free meals a week at a nearby eatery.
Students struggling with food insecurity can complete and
submit the form on this page
, with completely confidential submissions.

The Julius Shulman Institute (JSI) is a programming and research unit housed in the School of Architecture at Woodbury University. His work helped to introduce modern architecture, and particularly the work of dozens of renowned Southern California-based architects to a broad populace. His archive, now housed at the Getty Research Institute, provides an unparalleled window into Los Angeles’ mid-twentieth century built history. Shulman established the Julius Shulman Institute at Woodbury University in 2005 with the goal of promoting an appreciation and understanding of the built environment, particularly as mediated by photography, to aspiring students of design and architecture and to the general public.
