Science in Action: 7th Graders Dive Into Biology

Learning came to life at
KDS DAR Middle School
as Mr. Hammett’s 7th grade science classes participated in a hands-on frog dissection lab.
While textbooks provide the theory, nothing compares to the tactile experience of a lab. Students spent the day identifying internal organs and observing the complex biological systems of amphibians firsthand. The activity is a rite of passage for middle schoolers, designed to bridge the gap between diagrams and reality.
The classroom was a hub of focus and curiosity. Working in small groups, students followed careful procedures to explore respiratory systems, circulatory anatomy, and digestive tracks.
Mr. Hammett’s classes are known for making science interactive. By moving beyond the screen and into the lab, DAR Middle School continues to foster a deeper interest in the STEM fields, helping students develop the critical thinking skills necessary for high school biology and beyond.
