Scholarship Resources
PCOM Office of Financial Aid
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine offers multiple scholarships for admitted
and returning students based on academic performance, financial need, community involvement
and other merits. We also provide resources for external scholarship opportunities
which include medical student scholarships and scholarships for graduate students.
PCOM Scholarships
Scholarships for new medical and graduate students
PCOM offers full- and partial-tuition scholarships to newly admitted incoming students
at each of our locations. Graduate and medical students will be considered by the
Office of Admissions and selection committees based on the admissions process—academic
record, strength of interview and promise of exceptional achievement.
Financial need scholarships
The PCOM Office of Financial Aid awards financial need scholarships to admitted and
returning students. There is limited funding available for financial need scholarships,
so priority is given to returning PCOM students who complete
their requirements
on time and demonstrate financial need.
Endowed and merit scholarships for returning students
There are numerous merit-based scholarships available to returning students. These
include scholarships for medical students and scholarships for graduate students.
Consideration for these scholarships is based on academic performance, school and
community involvement, specialty interest, financial need and other factors.
External Scholarships
Searchable scholarship database
PCOM maintains a
searchable database
of external scholarship opportunities. You can find scholarships for medical students
and scholarships for graduate students with a variety of criteria.
Third party databases
We also recommend using these
third party scholarship searches
to look for external scholarships that may be available for graduate and medical
students.
Scholarship notifications from our office
Our office is periodically notified of scholarships and awards offered by external
organizations. By completing the PCOM Scholarship Profile as part of the
application process
each year, we will contact qualified students directly to inform them of certain
external scholarships for which they may apply.
National Health Service Corps Scholarships
The
National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
scholarship pays tuition and fees as well as provides a living stipend in return
for a commitment to work at least two years at an NHSC-approved site in a medically
underserved community.
Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarships
The United States Army, Navy and Air Force offer prospective military health professionals
paid medical education
in exchange for service as a commissioned healthcare officer.
Yellow Ribbon Program for Veterans
PCOM participates in the Veteran's Administration
Yellow Ribbon Program
. Students who are eligible to receive VA benefits under the Post-9/11 GI bill may
be considered to receive additional funds from PCOM under this program.
