Core IMPACTS
Audio description for the Core Impacts video
Core IMPACTS Curriculum
Kennesaw State University's Core IMPACTS curriculum ensures that every undergraduate
gains knowledge in diverse disciplines, fostering personal growth, professional success,
and active citizenship. With approximately 13-14 tailored core courses, students explore
their interests and acquire new perspectives. Transfer students from other USG institutions
can apply previously earned credits toward Core IMPACTS requirements, expediting their
path to a KSU degree.
Core IMPACTS Curriculum
Need Help? Get Help.
With resources from academic assistance to health and emergencies, these resources
will allow you to get the immediate help and assistance you need at KSU.
See Something, Say Something.
KSU seeks to foster a proactive climate of care that can only be achieved through
cooperative input from the entire community. We connect concerns with the resources
to succeed and help to prevent crises.
Campus Maps
Kennesaw State University includes two main campuses in Cobb County about 20-30 minutes north of Atlanta, GA. No matter where you choose to visit us, we hope you’ll love Kennesaw State University as much as we do.
Academic Advising
Advisors assist you in identifying and achieving your academic, career, and personal
goals. They provide academic guidance in order to keep you on track for graduation
and can help connect you to campus programs and services. You are assigned an academic
advisor, or advising center, based on your intended major.
We encourage you to meet with your advisor at least once each semester. Advising is
not registration! You should meet with your advisor prior to the date you register
for classes so you can discuss the best plan for the upcoming semester and beyond.
Academic Advising
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find out who my advisor is?
You are assigned an advisor based on your intended major. Exploratory/undecided students are seen by Owl Advising, and students who have a major already identified are seen by the advisors in that department. In many cases, your advisor will be viewable in DegreeWorks. You can find more advising information by visiting
Academic Advising
How do I know when it’s time to register each semester?
Your registration window opens based on your assigned time ticket, which you can view in Owl Express under the Registration tab. University-wide registration periods and deadlines are listed in the Academic Calendar on the Registrar’s site. For exact start dates for your class level and enrollment status (freshman, continuing student, online, etc.), check your Time Ticket Assignments page in Owl Express. Staying up to date with these tools ensures you register at the correct time each semester.
How do I change my major?
You can change or declare your major by logging into Owl Express and selecting the Student Records tab. From there, choose Change Major/Minor and follow the steps. After submitting your request, it will be reviewed and processed by your college. You’ll get an email once the change is complete. For more info, visit the
Registrar’s
site.
What classes are required for my major?
To see which classes are required for your major, log in to Degree Works through Owl Express. Degree Works shows a personalized checklist of courses you need to graduate, based on your declared major. It updates in real time and is available 24/7. Once you log in to Owl Express, go to the Student menu and select Degree Works. Your major’s worksheet will load automatically. You can also use the “What-If” tool to see how your current credits would apply to a different major. Remember, Degree Works is a helpful tool, but it doesn’t replace meeting with your academic advisor. For questions about your degree plan, it’s best to connect with your advisor. If you’re a prospective student, reach out to the academic department for major-specific information.
How do I find out about financial aid?
Information on financial aid, including loans, FAFSA, Hope, and Federal Work-Study
opportunities, can be found online at the
KSU Financial Aid site
How do I find out about scholarship opportunities?
ScholarshipUniverse is KSU's one-stop shop search tool used to locate and apply for
thousands of scholarship opportunities. You can log in to
ScholarshipUniverse
with your NetID and password.
Is there someone I can talk to about different career options?
The
Department of Career Planning and Development
would be a great place to start. Additionally, the
Counseling and Psychological Services Center
conducts career and academic counseling. Finally, your advisors can help you see how your undergraduate major can lead you to many different careers.
