FAFSA Update for Transfer Students
We know this transition brings many questions, especially about financial aid.
One of the most important next steps for students planning to transfer is ensuring your
2026 – 2027 FAFSA
is completed correctly and sent to your new institution.
To support you, we have prepared two step-by-step guides linked below. Here is what they cover:
How to File the 2026 – 2027 FAFSA
If you have not yet completed your FAFSA for the upcoming academic year, the guide walks you through:
Logging in at studentaid.gov and creating or using your FSA ID
Completing your student identity and demographic information
Providing required consent to retrieve federal tax information
Inviting contributors, such as parents or spouses, if required
Entering financial information using your 2024 tax return
Selecting the colleges that should receive your FAFSA information
Reviewing, signing, and successfully submitting your application
Completing this step ensures your transfer institution can prepare your financial aid offer without delay.
How to Add or Update Your School Selection
If you have already filed your FAFSA but need to update your school choice, the second guide explains how to:
Log back in and select “Make Corrections”
Navigate to the School Selection section
Add a new institution by searching by name, city, state, or federal school code
Remove a school if you have reached the 20-school limit
Re-sign and submit your updated FAFSA
Updating your FAFSA promptly will help avoid delays in receiving aid at your new college or university.
We’re Here to Support You
While this chapter is coming to a close, our commitment to supporting you through your transition remains strong. Taking these FAFSA steps now will help create a smoother transfer process and ensure your financial aid follows you to your next institution.
Please review the full guides linked below and reach out to the Financial Aid team if you need assistance.
