The DHS Office for State and Local Law Enforcement (OSLLE) was created in 2007 to serve as a trusted resource, advocate, and liaison for state, local, tribal, territorial, and campus law enforcement within DHS to help protect communities and safeguard the homeland.
OSLLE accomplishes its mission through partnerships and relationships with SLTTC law enforcement, both through law enforcement associations and directly with the 18,000 law enforcement agencies in the United States. OSLLE’s Strategic Goals are as follow:
Cultivate partnerships with SLTTC law enforcement, both directly and through DHS senior leadership engagements.
Ensure that SLTTC law enforcement equities are understood when DHS formulates policies, programs, initiatives, and operations.
Develop and share pertinent and timely information and resource with SLTTC law enforcement, both proactively and in response to requests.
Ensure that law enforcement and terrorism focused grants are appropriately focused on terrorism prevention activities, both through issuance of grant guidance and execution of compliance reviews.
Collaborate across DHS to foster partnerships and coordination with SLTTC law enforcement.
