Lisa Long, RN
Unit Leader
Not many people can say they began their health care career at age 14, but for Lisa Long, RN, geriatric care has been a nearly lifelong commitment.
“I love geriatrics,” said Long, a unit leader at Dunklau Gardens who has over 35 years of health care experience. “It’s the reason I wanted to become a nurse.”
She started work in a long-term care facility at age 14, became a certified nursing assistant at age 16 and then studied to become a registered nurse at College of Saint Mary in Omaha. She has intensive care, pulmonary and geriatric experience, and she previously was the assistant director of nursing at another long-term care facility. She brought her wealth of experience to Dunklau Gardens in 2014.
“My residents have always brought me such heartfelt joy and lots of laughter,” she said. “They honestly bring a smile to my face every day.
