Building Confidence through Creative Expression
Design thinking, creating writing, and the visual arts combine with performance in the Parker Theater program. Lower School students can perform, direct, write, choreograph, and create sets and costumes through grade-wide productions. Middle School students learn theater terminology through the drama elective, perform monologues and scenes, and create one-act plays and original pieces for capstone performances.
The Upper School drama program includes textual analysis of plays, advanced improvisational studies, and studying acting methods from acting greats like Konstantin Stanislavski, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, and Sanford Meisner. Lancer thespians in Grades 6 through 12 are invited to join the internationally renowned Francis Parker Drama Club. The club puts on several plays and a musical each academic year and provides opportunities for performance, design, and management.
