More Information
From the times of the French & Indian War, when armies fought over local waterways, to the 20th century, when vacationers flocked to nearby Lake George and the Adirondack mountains, the history of the Glens Falls region has been shaped by its particular location. The Chapman Museum shares the stories of the people who have lived and worked, raised families, attended school and played here – stories that are unique and fascinating, but also connect to the experiences of our visitors.
The photographs of Seneca Ray Stoddard
reveal the region as it looked to visitors 150 years ago, when the timber industry thrived and summer tourists traveled through Glens Falls by train and stage.
Changing seasonal exhibits
bring additional light to subjects that contribute to the rich heritage of the region. The museum’s hands-on displays touch upon themes of everyday life – an opportunity for families and friends to have fun while sharing memories from their own lives.
