Message from the Dean
Welcome to the Florida Memorial University School of Education and Social Sciences! Now, more than ever, we are building from a strong past and working to improve the lives of each student that enters our doors as we move forward.
This is a wonderful time in our history as we continue to build on the solid foundation that was imparted to the school by its past administrators. The challenges of our world emphasize the critical importance of degrees in education and social sciences. Our society is confronted with dire inequality in access to education, health services, and systematic forms of racism and oppression, which limits individuals’ ability to change their circumstances. Consequently, we are consistently looking to improve and transform the educational experience of our students to help them uncover and further develop marketable skills for a more successful transition from college to a career.
Our community of dedicated faculty are scholars and teachers whose research and training expand the boundaries of knowledge and imagination to prepare students for wide-ranging careers and instill their desire to become lifelong learners. The School of Education and Social Sciences plays a pivotal role in Florida Memorial University’s trajectory of emphasizing the Christian values of “Leadership, Character, and Service.” Therefore, we prepare our students to confront challenges by using their talents and abilities to become changemakers in their communities and globally.
Our graduate students and faculty consistently engage in the process of knowledge discovery to better innovate and transform the lives of humankind. Our undergraduate students are equally involved in collaborative research with faculty and community-based projects, which allows for the marrying of in-class learning with real-world application. This is a shining example of the exceptional education that the School of Education and Social Sciences offers to education and social science majors. In essence, our students are active participants in their learning and making their mark inside and outside the classroom.
Whether you are introducing yourself to the School of Education and Social Sciences for the first time, planning a campus visit, or are already a member of our community, I invite you to explore this website and learn more about the brilliant learning experience in the School of Education and Social Sciences and Social Sciences.
