Find out if you are applying to a talent program
Chapman’s talent programs are offered within three colleges:
College of Performing Arts
(all Dance, Music and Theatre programs)
Dodge College of Film and Media Arts
(all programs)
Wilkinson Colleges Art Programs
(Graphic Design and Studio Art)
To transfer into a talent-based program, you will need to follow the
general transfer application process
and submit a
Creative Supplement
Get as much General Education work done before transferring
Before transferring, we recommend getting as much of your General Education requirements
done as possible.
Your focus on major-related courses should be minimal. Talent-based majors don’t require
major prerequisite courses. The majority of the admission decision will rest within
the Creative Supplement component of our admission process as well as space availability
in these competitive programs.
Plan and prepare accordingly for competitive programs
In general, talent programs are more competitive than general/non-talent programs.
This means that you should put significant effort into ensuring your application reflects
your creative talents and ability to succeed at Chapman.
In addition, if you are open to attending Chapman in a non-talent major, you should
enter a second-choice major on your application.
This will not affect your chances of being admitted to your first-choice major.
However, it will allow us to potentially review your application for your second
choice if you are not admitted to your first choice.
Apply to the right term
All programs accept transfer students in the fall.
The following programs do not accept transfer students in the spring
Dance
Film & Television Production
Screen Acting
Theatre Performance
Apply on time
We strongly recommend that transfer applicants to talent-programs submit their application
and
Creative Supplement by the priority deadline:
Fall deadline: February 15 (January 15 is the recommended deadline for performing
arts programs
Dance, Music and all Theatre programs
due to their audition component)
Spring deadline: October 15
Consider a Chapman graduate program
If you aren’t admitted as an undergraduate, we hope you will still consider a talent-based
graduate program. You can find a list of
Dodge College graduate programs here
