The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu embarked on an expansion program with the aim of providing access to quality and affordable healthcare clinics. This saw the hospital open the first clinic in Kisii. Kisii Medical Centre, established in 2005 was meant to reduce the long-distance travels that patients from the County had to make to access quality healthcare services.
The clinic offered a wide range of services to the community including consultation services, nursing services, laboratory services and drug therapy among other services becoming a beacon of hope to the people of the Kisii County.
There was however a need to expand the services. As a result, the Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu decided to elevate the outpatient medical Centre into a primary medical centre with additional services so as to serve the community better. This would include an accident and emergency section, an inpatient section which would mean that the hospital would now serve
both inpatients and outpatients.
