Health and Fitness Department
OLP is committed to ensuring that all students develop habits for a healthy lifestyle rooted in a philosophy of wellness and self-care.
OLP Health and Fitness Department has a two-year requirement. There are several ways students can achieve this requirement. All students at OLP are required to take the Health course and one semester of an activity course through the Health and Fitness Department. Once students have taken those two courses, there are multiple pathways for students to complete their two-year (10 unit requirement). This includes taking two additional activity courses offered by the department. OLP CIF Athletics participation may also be used toward the Health and Fitness two-year requirement during students sophomore, junior and/or senior years. Please note that athletic participation in a student's frosh year does not count toward the Health and Fitness Department graduation unit requirement.
Any OLP CIF sport or ISPE can only count sophomore through senior year.

Prerequisites
: Application
Course Description:
If a student is very active in a sport that OLP does not offer, a 10th, 11th, and/or 12th grade student may apply for ISPE to qualify for up to 2 semesters of Health and Fitness Credit. Any sport offered at OLP may not earn ISPE toward that sport. For example, if a student plays Club Soccer, this student may not earn ISPE for soccer because OLP offers CIF soccer.
Students who may qualify for and want to apply for ISPE credit will communicate with their counselors during their course scheduling meetings for the following school year. They will complete an application and turn the application to the Health and Fitness Department Chair for approval. The application is due in the beginning of March. Once approved, ISPE will be included in the student's following school year schedule.
