A Year of Programming at MoM
Our exhibits reflect some of the
HER
-story of the people who have inhabited MoM as well as the artists, volunteers, and humans who have helped to collectively interpret feminism, activism, and society. As part of the new
BIG HUMAN FAMILY
exhibit online, we see the ways in which our bodies and MINDS intersect to create our reality.

Artist /Exhibition Agreement and Release
MoM nurtures conversations about the Art, Science, and Herstory of American motherhood, the interdisciplinary field of Mother Studies, and provides opportunities to share personal perspectives and experiences through our various initiatives. Our extensive library with films on a wide variety of topics, research materials from the Demeter Press Collection, and ephemera provide inspiration for those looking to deepen their understanding of mother studies.
As we grow and establish a story about our families & ourselves, we interpret our experiences by naming and labeling them. At MoM we attempt to widely disseminate these interpretations in order to counter narratives which have kept women less visible and carework on the margins.

platform encourages MoM participants to take a stand publicly on the topics near and dear to their hearts. It can also be a way to expressively share your personality and passions in a safe space. We invite you to participate online and send us your image or sign. We will continue to add to this exhibit.

About this exhibit: The purpose of this exhibit is to provide online interactive activities that will inspire individuals and connect communities. We assert that humans have more in common with each other than they have differences. By focusing on our connections, we counter narratives that seek to separate and divide us. At MoM our guiding premise is that we all have an origin story linking us to our shared humanity. Every person holds this truth. On the micro level, humans can learn from each other and support each other’s activities once common connections are established. Children experience parents more compassionately and parents experience their offspring similarly. Families are transformed and communities are impacted. MoM supports these connections by nurturing activities within safe space so that new insights might establish roots and permeate the larger community as a whole. Our programs elucidate our commonalities through multiple programs we have successfully launched.
