About the Nevada State Archives
The Nevada State Archives preserves and provides access to original records that document the history of Nevada's government dating back to 1851. The Archives' holdings include more than 19,000 cubic feet of territorial and state government records and over 14,000 images of Nevada peoples and places.
Mission Statement
The Nevada State Archives' mission is to identify, preserve, and provide equitable access to the documentary heritage of the diverse peoples of Nevada and serve as the state government's institutional memory.
Vision Statement
The Nevada State Archives' vision is to contribute to the accountability and transparency of state government.
Please note: The State Archives does not hold county records. For birth, marriage, divorce, and death records, contact the County Clerk/County Recorder in which the event was recorded or the Office of Vital Statistics. The State Archives has death records from 1920-1954 only.
