Most resident students live in residence halls during their first and second years and then in university-owned apartments and houses during their final years.

Modular furniture
Most of North Park’s student housing features movable, stackable furniture. This means you can loft your bed, reconfigure your setup, and personalize your space to fit your needs.

Common areas
Find your favorite place to study, relax, or connect with friends. The Johnson Center offers cozy lounges, study pods, and Bickner Bistro. Residence halls feature lounges, kitchens, and study rooms. Java Haus in Burgh Hall is a favorite for late-night hangs and open-mic nights, while the nearby Burgh Game Room offers pool and ping pong. Between classes, students often gather in the Carlson Tower lobby or grab snacks at Viking Market & Café. Brandel Library is perfect for solo or group study. At Magnuson Campus Center, you’ll find the dining hall upstairs and a vending lounge downstairs.

We have a traditional dining hall, a grab-and-go shop called Viking Market & Café, and 1891 Bread Co., which is located within Bickner Bistro—your go-to place for coffee and baked goods.

Visiting hours
Students may host guests in residence halls, apartments, and houses by following these guidelines:
Sunday–Thursday:
10:00 a.m.–midnight
Friday–Saturday:
10:00 a.m.–2:00 a.m.
Guests must check in with a valid photo ID and be accompanied by their host during check-in and check-out.  Following these policies helps keep our campus safe and respectful for everyone.
Housing deposits
A housing deposit is required to apply for campus housing—$250 for undergraduate students and $500 for graduate students. Deposits are refundable after graduation or moving off campus, minus any fees for damages, lockouts, student conduct fines, or other housing-related charges.
Incoming students can receive a full refund if they cancel their housing application by August 1 (fall) or December 15 (spring). For graduating or commuting students, refunds are processed 1–2 months after move-out, once all housing charges are cleared. Refunds are sent via direct deposit or mailed as a check to the student’s permanent address. International students without direct deposit must submit a wire transfer request to the Business Office, as checks cannot be mailed internationally.

Important dates for undergraduate student housing
The Office of Residence Life and Housing will assign new students to on-campus housing in early June, early July, and mid-July. After that, students will be assigned every week until the start of the semester.
New students must complete and submit their housing applications as soon as possible to quickly get their assignment.
To receive their assignment, all students must:
Be registered full-time
Submit a housing application
Pay the $250 housing deposit
Threshold is a
Thursday–Sunday event in
late August
for new students, the Thursday being move-in day. Returning students also move into their on-campus housing
the weekend
before classes begin
. You may have a different move-in date if you’re a student leader, athlete, or international student.
All students should check their North Park email for their assigned or expected moving day and time.
The
fifth day of the semester
is the final day to decrease your meal plan for the fall semester. You can increase it at any time.
You can only switch rooms or roommates for the fall semester during the
third week of the semester
. Contact your area coordinator to start the process.
Students must leave campus housing by
10:00 a.m. the Saturday following finals
If you need to stay, you may apply to live on campus over winter break for an additional fee. The Office of Residence Life and Housing will share information about winter break housing and the application process by

Spring semester classes resume
mid-January
. Check your North Park email to see your assigned move-in time.
The Friday of the first week of classes

Returning students

The Office of Residence Life and Housing will announce details and dates.
All students are expected to move out by 10 AM on Saturday after finals. Students who are graduating or participating in the commencement have an extension to move out until 10 AM on Sunday after commencement. Students wishing to stay on campus over the summer break can do so by applying in advance.
