Citizen Consumer Club
The Citizen Consumer Club of P.K.R. Arts College for Women is functioning effectively to create awareness among students about consumer’s rights with the aim to educate them to become knowledgeable and rational consumers. They must become conscious of their rights and capable of choosing products in a relatively free and uninfluenced manner. We aim to ensure a better quality of life for the future citizens of the country.
Mission of Citizen Consumer Club
To enable students to understand the fundamental rights of a citizen.
To enable students to realize and learn the fundamental duties of a good citizen.
To inject Knowledge on product standards, product quality and markets.
To learn about laws enacted for the protection/Welfare of consumers and enforcement authorities concerned.
To develop a sense of awareness among youth and methods of exploitation of consumers by business concerns and measures to protect them.
To impart knowledge on product standards, product quality and markets.
To learn about sustainable consumption norms and implement them in real life.
To assist the youth in making an informed purchase decision as individuals.
To build a base of enlightened citizen customers as the foundation of future India.
Objectives
Bring awareness and realization about duties and responsibilities as Citizens of India.
Spread awareness about the rights and responsibilities of Citizens and Consumers as provided in the Constitution of India, Consumer Protection Act, 1986 and other Indian Laws.
To enable children, students and self-help groups to work together as a team with local communities and develop into caring, responsible and honest citizens.
Mobilize and instill right-consciousness, confidence to question violations of citizen and consumer rights and fight for justice.
Impart knowledge about real-life situations and to enable to development of skills to handle citizen and consumer issues.
Instill concern for the environment around us as citizens and consumers and sustainable consumption habits.
Activities
Days of National and International importance for the consumers are celebrated in the College. The Consumer Club gives awareness to the students by conducting various activities like poster making, Video making, Quiz, Drawing competition, Essay writing competition and Exhibition etc. We hope to give awareness to the public and village people around our campus through our extension activities. Usually, we invite resourceful persons from District Consumer Protection Centre, Erode to deliver speeches on selected themes of the day.
