The Trenton Neighborhood Initiative
Capital Health is making a significant investment in the city it has called home for more than 125 years. Launched in 2021, Capital Health’s Trenton Neighborhood Initiative (TNI) seeks to make a meaningful impact in the neighborhoods surrounding our flagship hospital, Capital Health Regional Medical Center, and in the entire Trenton community. This initiative recognizes that our responsibility to the communities we serve extends well beyond the walls of our hospitals and medical offices.
About TNI
In addition to providing its own $1 million commitment of financial support for the project, Capital Health has launched an ambitious campaign seeking philanthropic support from valued corporate partners, friends and neighbors. Through TNI, Capital Health and its partners will be investing time and resources in what is planned to be a five-year, $10 million effort. This investment will create new opportunities to engage community residents in improving the well-being and stability of their neighborhood, while making Trenton a safer, more beautiful place to live.
The
Trenton Neighborhood Initiative (TNI)
recognizes the importance of helping address the social determinants of health for residents and is delivering solutions that complement the health care services Capital Health provides. Capital Health is collaborating with Trenton Health Team (THT), a valued community partner, to develop and implement programs supported by the Trenton Neighborhood Initiative. The initiative focuses on four key areas: LIVE, WORK, GROW, and CONNECT. Specifically, TNI will focus on programs supporting home ownership and rehabilitation, job training and employment, digital equity, and healthy beginnings to support the needs of new moms and their families.
Why are Live, Work, Grow and Connect essential to TNI?
The Trenton Neighborhood Initiative takes a two-pronged approach. One, we develop and invest in direct interventions in the North Trenton neighborhoods surrounding the Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Two, we promote strategic solutions for change citywide. We’ve listened to residents and local stakeholders, and learned from the numerous plans and needs assessments done over time for Trenton, which highlight the same priorities: housing, safety, job readiness and creation, and education. These priorities have driven our focus on supporting Trenton residents as they Live, Work, Grow and Connect.

Capital Health Adds Pulsed Field Ablation System, Improving Access to Care for AFib Patients in Mercer and Bucks Counties
Specialists from Capital Health’s Cardiac Electrophysiology Program, part of its Heart and Vascular Institute, unveiled a new, minimally invasive pulsed field ablation system at the Al Maghazehe Heart and Vascular Center located at Capital Health Regional Medical Center (RMC). The addition of the new system doubles the hospital’s capacity to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib) patients who are candidates for ablation.
