provides services like counseling, peer support, workshops, and crisis intervention to help students manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. It promotes well-being, academic success, and reduces stigma around mental health.

Welcome
Student Mental Health Wellness Program services will include mental health education, stress management workshops, mindfulness sessions, peer support groups, outreach programs, and various educational and supportive initiatives to promote overall mental wellness among students. We ask that you please call, email:

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Student Mental Health Wellness Program is to integrate Diné and Western approaches to proactive mental health, offering preventive strategies, academic support, guidance, and referral services designed to boost students’ academic success and achievement.
Vision:
Our vision is to empower students by blending Diné and Western knowledge, skills, and community resources to enhance their mental resilience and overall quality of life.

: We do what is right for our students. We make decisions with their best interests in mind, placing them at the center of the Student Mental Health Wellness Program services.
Cultural humility
: We respect the diversity of our students, including their race and gender. We consider their backgrounds and viewpoints to better understand their needs.

We accept and appreciate all students and value their uniqueness and worth.
Integrity:
We do not cause harm. We are safe, open, honest, and ethical.
Accountability:
We communicate results. We are transparent with students. We take responsibility for our decisions and actions.
Confidentiality:
We abide by a strict code of confidentiality between staff and student that include HIPPA and FERPA Laws. However, we are also bound by mandatory reporting guidelines. If a student discloses any of the instances listed below, We are mandated by law to report to the local law enforcement or applicable agency and make a report. Those instances include:
If the student discloses that they are going to harm themselves or another individual
If the student discloses that there is any abuse, neglect or maltreatment of a child
If the student discloses that there is any abuse, neglect or maltreatment of a vulnerable adult
If the event of hospitalization occurs
Court order issued by a judge to require a release of information containing the students records
While we strive to meet all the needs of our students, we as Diné College staff are bound to adhere by these mandated reporting guidelines. Confidentiality will only be breached if the student presents with one or more of the above instances and will be informed of such at the moment of disclosure.

Student’s Rights and Responsibilities
As a student of Dine College, the Student Success Center Student Mental Health Wellness Program would like for you to be aware of your rights and responsibilities as a student of our services. Below you will find an outline and if you should have any questions, please contact a Student Mental Health Coordinator, at (928) 724-6854 or (505) 368-3628 or through email at studentmentalhealth@dinecollege.edu.
Student Rights:
Students have the right to receive Student Mental Health Wellness Program services at Dine College regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, and student demographics (i.e. traditional, non-traditional college student).
You have the right to Confidentiality
Exceptions to Confidentiality: The counseling services will take the required steps from the college, permitted by law, and to prevent potential harm from occurring.
If you pose a threat or harm to yourself.
If you pose a threat or harm to others, on campus, off campus, and via internet.
If the event of hospitalization.
If you report information on a child, elder, person with a disability being abused or neglected.
Court order issued by judge to require a release of information containing your records.
Release of Information (ROI)
You have the right to discuss your record with the counselor.
If you sign a ROI form, you are authorizing Diné College Student mental Health Wellness Program services to share information with outside resources, you have the right to discuss specific information that will be released.
You have the right to end your participation in the Student Mental Health Wellness Program at any time.
You have the right to request for another Student Mental Health Coordinator or will be referred to a source that will continue services with you.
You have the right to participate in the development and delivery strategies of your student mental health wellness plan.

TSAILE CAMPUS
Travis Teller is the Student Mental Health Coordinator within the Student Engagement and Leaders domain under Student Affairs. Teller, of the Towering House clan (Kinyaa’áanii), was born for the Water Flowing Together clan (Tó’áheedlíinii). He brings a wealth of experience and a deep cultural understanding to his new role. His maternal grandparents are of the Big Water clan (Tótsohnii), and his paternal grandparents are of the Irish people (Dígí Dalchí’í). Originally from Black Rock, Arizona, Teller currently resides in Tsaile, Arizona.
Teller holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and possesses 15 years of experience in the mental health field. He has honed his expertise through both Western and Diné methodologies, developing a comprehensive approach to holistic wellness. Teller is recognized for his ability to integrate innovative counseling techniques from both cultural perspectives to promote prevention and education in psychology.
Teller’s dedication to Diné philosophies and language, particularly the principles of Sa’ah Naagháí Bik’eh Hózhóón, has led him to become a Diné practioner. His commitment to these ideals ensures that his counseling strategies are both innovative and inclusive, combining Western and Diné cultural approaches.

Introducing BetterMynd
Diné College is proud to announce a partnership with BetterMynd, an online therapy provider that partners exclusively with colleges and universities in the US to provide their students with access to free, high-quality counseling services.
In response to the growing importance of mental health awareness and the evolving needs of our community, Diné has taken a proactive approach to expand the support and resources available to our campus community. The partnership with BetterMynd will enable students to access confidential and convenient mental health services remotely, providing them with the flexibility to prioritize their mental well-being within their busy schedules.
BetterMynd supplements on-campus mental health resources by providing free and highly personalized online therapy to students to meet their unique needs, including access to 50-minute scheduled counseling sessions, a diverse network of mental health clinicians, and the scheduling flexibility needed for students to make meaningful progress with mental health challenges. Sessions can take place anywhere the student is most comfortable, during the day, at night, or on weekends.
