About the Jeanne Clery Act
The Jeanne Clery Act, officially known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act, is a federal law requiring colleges and universities that receive federal funding to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses. It was named after Jeanne Clery, a student who was murdered at Lehigh University in 1986. The Clery Act aims to provide transparency regarding campus safety policies and crime statistics to students and employees.
1998
The Campus Security Act was changed to the Jeanne Clery Act and also included additional reporting obligations and added a daily crime log requirements.
This section is in compliance with the Higher Education Act requiring institutions of higher education receiving federal financial assistance to furnish certain information to enrolled and prospective students and others.
September 1, 1991
Institutions must begin to collect certain information with respect to campus crime statistics and campus security policies.
September 1, 1992
Institutions must prepare, publish and distribute through publications or mailings to all current students and employees, and to any applicant for enrollment upon request.

Crime Statistics Collection
Collect and maintain comprehensive crime statistics for campus, public property, and non-campus locations as required by federal law.
Annual Security Report
Publish and distribute an annual security report containing crime statistics, security policies, and campus safety information to all students and employees.
Daily Crime Log
Maintain a daily crime log that records all crimes reported to campus security, available for public inspection during normal business hours.
Emergency Notifications
Provide timely warnings and emergency notifications to the campus community about crimes and emergencies that pose ongoing threats.
Campus Safety Education
Provide educational programs promoting awareness of campus security procedures, crime prevention, and personal safety.
Policy Disclosure
Disclose campus security policies, procedures for reporting crimes, and disciplinary actions taken by the institution.
Crime Reporting
The college community is encouraged to report all criminal activity occurring on campus to the appropriate authorities.

Report crimes during regular business hours to Campus Security.
