Why is accreditation so important?

Accreditation ensures that an academic institution meets certain standards in teaching, student support, fiscal stability and other areas as determined by the accreditor.
Ease of credit transfer
While the decision to grant transfer credit always rests with the receiving institution, institutions will often begin to consider transfer credit if it’s from an accredited institution.

Institutional accreditation
Strayer University is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE or the Commission)

. Strayer University’s accreditation status is Accreditation Reaffirmed. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on March 12, 2026 was to reaffirm accreditation. MSCHE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation (candidate status) activities for institutions of higher education including distance, correspondence education, and direct assessment programs offered at those institutions. The Commission’s geographic area of accrediting activities is throughout the United States.

Human Resource Management
The Society for Human Resource Management
The student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) provides education and information services, conferences and seminars, government and media representation, and publications that help its members build relationships with local professionals and students, while learning about HR management.
Cybersecurity
The National Security Agency
The National Security Agency (NSA) and a committee of academic peers named Strayer University as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) and validated the Master of Science in Cybersecurity program. The MSC curriculum aligns closely with areas of study that were validated by experts in the field.
Strayer University is undergoing Self-Study Evaluation with the Commission and will host an evaluation visit for reaffirmation of accreditation in Fall 2025. The Commission “seeks to provide a meaningful opportunity for interested parties to provide information about an institution while it is under review.” The Commission offers the opportunity to submit third-party comments regarding Strayer University’s compliance with standards for accreditation, requirements of affiliation, policies and procedures, and applicable federal regulatory requirements.
