Before you arrive at William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, you may want to know what to expect. Here’s how to be best prepared for your visit.
When to Arrive
ED patients
If you’re having a health emergency, please come directly to the
Clements University Hospital Emergency Room
, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
All other patients
If you’re visiting Clements University Hospital for a nonemergency condition, please call

to schedule an appointment.
What to Bring
When you come to the hospital, please bring the following:
A photo ID
All your insurance cards
A list of your current medications
Your completed preregistration paperwork (see below)
Any paperwork given to you by your physician, including any primary care physician referrals
If applicable, copies of an
advance directive
, living will, and power of attorney. These documents will be placed in your medical record, and all information will be held in strict confidence.
Overnight Tips
If you expect to stay overnight at the hospital, here are a few helpful tips to make your stay more comfortable:
Bring any medications you take regularly.
Pack your cellphone and charger, plus contact information for friends and family.
Don’t forget your eyeglasses or contacts, plus contact lens solution.
Consider bringing a few toiletries, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, and lip balm.
Pack comfortable clothing and a light sweater to wear on your day of discharge.
Include a book, magazine, or craft to help pass the time.
What to Leave at Home
To ensure that all patients are comfortable, we ask that you leave the following items at home:
Perfumes and highly scented lotions
Valuables, such as jewelry
Illegal drugs, alcohol, and weapons
